Stop managing your future misery.
It’s useless.
You can’t take an advance on whatever pain will come someday.
You can’t bite off small chunks of tomorrow’s sadness.
You can’t water down your possible depression.
You can’t feel guilty right now in order to feel less guilty next year.
And although these examples might sound crazy, it’s what we do.
It’s what we do when we downplay our current joy and enthusiasm.
When we anticipate the end of happiness and deeply fear the disappointment.
But by doing that, by trying to not engage fully, we merely fuck up the moment.
Being joyful and happy is what will get you through future misery.
Being fully alive is what will keep you grounded and strong and hopeful.
You deserve to enjoy whatever comes your way.
It’s healthy and smart and you will not be punished for it.
Life doesn’t analyze whatever you feel right now only to burden you with the opposite.
You don’t have to fool life.
You don’t have to compensate for anything.
Feel good when you feel good.
Be happy when you are happy.
It’s a good thing.
It’s perfect.
